wow. washington post article links to new york times article. welcome to the social 1995

update: ha. i knew i had never seen it before. and stupid/amatuer me didn’t take a screen shot. so it’s gone. now the article no longer links to the times article. i searched my local cache in vain. all i could come up with was a google site search that has the text that was linked. (see image above)

i’ve never seen this before. ok. let me qualify this. i’ve never seen this before from an old media publisher. everybody else has been doing this since 1995 or earlier.

at the end of this washington post article, there is a link to a related new york times article. hmm. wow. only thing they could do better would be to use the nytimes permalink.

now if only the times would do the same. but it doesn’t look like it will:

The New York Times has no plans to use Inform, according to Catherine Mathis, a spokeswoman. Ms. Mathis said the Web site planned to link to bloggers on various topics in the future, using technology from Blogrunner, which the Times bought last year for an undisclosed sum.
